Since May 29, the Village of Islandia has fully welcomed its seniors back to The Islandia Senior Center. The reopening came after closure in March 2020 due to the pandemic.

The senior center officially reopened in July of 2020, but only operated during limited hours to ensure the safety of its visitors. The May 29 festivities celebrated the senior center’s complete reopening with refreshments and the appearance of Mayor Allan M. Dorman and Village Parks and Recreation Commissioner Denise Schrage.

The Islandia Senior Center gives the village’s older residents the opportunity to participate in events and activities like watching movies, playing games, and much more, all while socializing with friends and other older residents.

The Islandia Senior Center is now open Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
