The Science Museum of Long Island Hosts Their Live at Five Concert Series Through August 🎤

The new concert series held by the Science Museum of Long Island called Live at Five will be continuing through August. Having been held since May on alternating Thursday nights, the concert series has aimed to bring a new perspective to the Science Museum and offer concert-goers a relaxing outdoor experience full of great music and even some scientific activities.

Music is not all that the concert series has going for it. While the event boasts exciting nights of local band performances, there will also be guest speakers, science-themed activities, nature walks, as well as beverage and food vendors. According to the Science Museum, guests can bring blankets or chairs to the space.

Tickets for non-members to the museum are $20 per adult and $10 per child. Members, however, need only pay $5 for admission. There are no guaranteed spots, and tickets are based on a first-come-first-served basis. Pre-registered guests can also reserve parking spots. However, note that for those purchasing tickets at the door, there is a $5 fee.

The upcoming show on August 5 features music by the Brooklyn Bluegrass Collective, bluegrass musicians who have performed all over. Food and drinks for purchase are provided by The Bubbly Bar and Greenpoint Brewery, as well as the Rolling Smoke Food Truck.

Outside food and drink are not permitted on the premises. As stated by the museum, the concert series started for the sake of fundraising, both for the museum and participating vendors who have struggled during the pandemic.

Like in the past, preceding the show will be science activities and nature walks. Doors open at 5 p.m., and the pre-music activities will continue until 6:30 p.m. when the music starts. The Live at Five outdoor concert series ends each night at 9 p.m.

Tickets for the outdoor concert series can be purchased through the Science Museum of Long Island’s website.
