Argyle Toys will hold their grand opening on Saturday, June 19 at their storefront on 10 Grove Place.

The idea for the shop came from neighbors, moms, and co-owners Teresa Striker, Amber McCullough and Madeline Lunz.

“We were having a COVID-safe outdoor fire in December because that was the only way to hang out, and we were talking about how the village is really missing the element of a toy store that brings a special kind of magic to kids,” Striker said.

The proud Babylon locals got right to work on getting their idea up and running. Each owner’s experience as professionals in their respective fields assisted in the process of getting the shop up and running, with McCullough in research and analytics, Striker in ecommerce and social media, and Lunz in fashion merchandising.

“We have unique backgrounds that really play off of each other well,” Striker said.

The three put their heads together and in just a few short months, they launched online as an ecommerce business.

While curating inventory for the store, Striker said the co-owners had very specific standards. They hoped to establish a specialty boutique feel to their shop with a more unique inventory than places like Amazon and Target have to offer. As moms of two children each with ages ranging between 11 months and 8 years, the business partners knew just how to find the right toys for all ages, needs, and skill levels.

Meanwhile, the moms were searching diligently for the right Babylon Village location.

“It was always our goal to have a storefront. We always wanted to build that experience within the village, we think it was lacking and we’re really excited to fill that hole,” Striker said. “We would only do it in Babylon Village, so we were being very picky about the location, we didn’t just want to go anywhere.”

Before settling on the spot Argyle Toys occupies now, the owners had their hands on another location that ended up falling through. However, Striker said it was for the best.

“We love where we are now… it’s perfect for us. We’re right off Deer Park Avenue and it’s a bright, sunny space that carries the vibe that we’re trying to build at Argyle Toys.”

After operating exclusively online since March, Argyle Toys is finally ready to bring their storefront to life for children and parents to experience and enjoy together. Its grand opening will be held on Saturday, June 19. Giveaways will be held on both Saturday and Sunday, and everyone who makes a purchase on each day will be automatically entered. There will also be fun features like balloons for kids.
